My prune/date/fig package is inflated! It did not look this way when I purchased it. What happened, what should I do?

Woodstock prunes, dates, and figs are organic and therefore meaning they do not contain any sulfites or preservatives. This type of issue tends to occur when the becomes fruit moist as the weather is warm/humid. The package inflation is likely due to yeast fermentation and though not normally a critical food safety hazard, we do not recommend consuming the fruit when the package is enlarged. We do recommend exchanging the fruit at the store in which they were purchased for a product with a different best by date. If there is any trouble in doing so, please reach out to us further via the contact us form.
